Omnitom off the mat with Delamay in Malaysia

Since 2009 I have been on the road, teaching workshops at various studios in different countries. From December 2010 I was given the opportunity to be a resident Yoga teacher at Inner Living in Melaka. Melaka is on the west coast of Malaysia south from Kuala Lumpur and across the water from Sumatra. It is a melting pot of cultures and religion including Muslim, Buddhists, Taoists, Christianity and more, Melaka is a historical town and in the past was a host to Dutch, English and Portuguese settlers, it was a popular trading port for sailors from the Middle east and all over Asia. Even today there is a Portuguese settlement there, over Christmas almost every house in the Portuguese settlement is massively decorated with flashing Christmas lights, glowing snowmen and some even had reindeers on their roof tops! Apparently people come from all over Malaysia to see this over Christmas time, even the prime minister! The studio I was teaching at was next door to the Portuguese settlement and in the evening when I was making my way home I would hear Christmas carol melodies coming out of peoples houses and see families having bbq’s outside and enjoying the warm air as the hot sun had set.
My favourite class to teach was the Karma Yoga class Monday evening 7:30pm. This class was free for everyone and was an opportunity for the teachers to share something different from the “normal” Yoga asana class. Being the creative person I am I came up with a new theme each time I taught this Karma Yoga class ranging from The Art of Chaturanga to Hands on adjustments & Partner Yoga. I really felt the students valued theses classes and learned a lot as they had the opportunity to ask questions and even to request what theme we should cover next.
A few times I would receive comments on my clothes I wore during class so being a Omnitom Angel I decided to introduce my students to Omnitom! After patiently waiting for the package to arrive I took what I had into the studio and after the 6pm class I showed them what I had. In less then 10 minutes I had sold almost everything! The variety of good quality Yoga clothing is hard to find in Melaka, they have sports clothing stores which stock the standard brands like Nike, Adidas Puma etc but its all polyester and not very flattering. I received a few more orders from students for Omnitom’s other outfits and seeing them wear the clothes to class was great!
My time was coming to an end so after the last Karma Yoga Class I asked students to wear their Omnitom clothes for a photo shoot, so after a sweaty Yoga Dance Kalari inspired flow we managed to take some pictures to share with you! Thanks to Inner Living, Joanne, Linda, Vivian and Lillian.
